Formatted search: Display select window on button click and even when a single value or no value exists

Hi,

While working with formatted searches for the last few hours, I noticed that when there is a single value, the choose window is not displayed, but the value gets selected automatically. Is there a way to display the select window even in the case when single value or no value exists? Also, Is there a way to display the search window on a button click and retrieve the value in SAP B1 sdk? Is there an event that fires after choosing from the formatted search list?
